Take Action: Urge the MA State Senate to Pass Home Care Licensure
Take Action: Home Care LicensureThe Home Care Alliance has participated in several meetings in recent weeks urging members of the Massachusetts State Senate to advance legislation to license non-medical home care agencies. This HCA-backed legislation passed the Massachusetts House of Representatives in November, and the Senate must act before the end of the legislative session this July. Following the House vote to pass An Act to Improve Massachusetts Home Care, which would establish a licensure system and baseline standards for agencies, attention now turns to the Senate. Massachusetts remains one of a handful of states without a licensure structure for nonmedical home care. While a framework was established in 2017 for skilled home health services, it did not extend to personal care. The Home Care Alliance has long supported legislation to establish clear, consistent standards—strengthening the industry and protecting consumers. Now is the time to act.
